I chose to teach the water cycle because it is an important part of how water moves through our world. When thinking about how to make it fun, I immediately thought of "The Itsy-Bitsy Spider." I immediately thought about how I could tie this popular song and book into this lesson and make it fun and easy to understand for my students

Students will be able to accurately and quickly label the water cycle in the order that it occurs

Students will have a basic understanding of what the water cycle looks like in the real world and can give an example

Students will be able to accurately recall the events of the story in the manner that they using words or gestures

Students will be able to point out, rhyming words, such as “out” and “spout”

Affordances: It is very interactive for the students, considering it has a QR code to access the sing-along and also each page has a different lever or flap to have visions interact with the images

Limitations: it might be a little hard for students to connect this silly story with real life, events, and the real water cycle

Being able to recall and describe the main events of the water cycle those being evaporation, condensation and precipitation they can do this by using pictures or their words

Being able to recognize new words from the book such as “rain”, “sun”, “cloud”, and “water”in their own sentences

Affordance: It’s a very simple book that has little to know advanced wording, so it’ll be easy for the students to comprehend and follow along. At the end, it has some fun facts about water in the water cycle that I think the students will enjoy such as the fact that the water on the earth today is the same water that was around when dinosaurs were alive

Limitations: kindergartners cannot read yet, so I will have to read it to them and make sure that they understand it

Students will physically be able to see what the water cycle looks like in a more real life image even though it is cartoon

Students will be able to complete the game of getting the clouds to rain by reflecting the sun rays onto the water

Affordances: It’s very interactive and fun for the students to visually see what steps go into the next to create the water cycle

Limitations: Some students who are not so technology inclined might have a little trouble understanding how to navigate and complete the game
