Vasya is creative by the way he interprets music as art and art as music. Colors had sound and sound portrayed color. 

Vasya opened his paint box and began mixing the reds, the yellows, the blues, he heard a strange sound—the swirling colors trilled like an orchestra tuning up for a symphony!

As he grew older, he continued to 'hear' brilliant colors singing and see vibrant sounds dancing.

Vasya is passionate about his love for art and music, so passionate, he  becomes a painter. He is also passionate about creating art from feelings, not off of what others told him. 
He quit his job teaching law and moved from Moscow and moved to Munich to be a painter

It took a long time for people to understand...
