         <description><![CDATA[<div>One of the most notorious crime cases in Ontario would be the Scarborough serial killer/rapist case that occurred in the 1980s. The name Paul Bernardo is known to most residence in Ontario. Paul Bernard was a serial killer from Scarborough Ontario who was involved in approximately 18 rape and murder cases that occurred in the late 1980s. His sidekick in his crimes would be Bernardo’s wife, Karla Homolka who assisted him in his dreadful acts. It took a few years for the police to catch who was behind all these horrific cases until May 1990, when a victim provided the police with enough information to get a description of her attacker. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Investigators questioned Bernardo but were satisfied with his story and let him go but as a matter of routine took hair, blood, and saliva samples to do a DNA test against specimens found on a rape victims clothing. Years passed and finally Paul was arrested in February of 1993 after the results from the forensics science matched Bernardo’s DNA with that of the Scarborough rapist. <br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>After a plea bargain deal and many investigations and interrogations, Paul Bernardo’s sidekick/wife Karla Homolka was convicted after pleading guilty on two counts of manslaughter. She was sentenced to two 12-year prison person to be served concurrently. Bernardo’s trial began on the 1<sup>st</sup> of May 1995.Paul Bernardo was found guilty on all charges that were filed against him: two counts each of first-degree murder, kidnapping, forcible confinement and aggravated sexual assault and also one count of committing an indignity towards a human body. His sentence was far worse than that of his wife. Paul Bernardo was sentenced to life imprisonment and declared a dangerous offender. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>a)    What surprised me about this topic would be that regardless of how horrific of a crime someone can commit, they can still practice their rights to apply for parole. In the Paul Bernardo case with all his charges he was still able to apply for parole.</div><div>b)   From this research I am most likely to remember the three types of homicides and which sections in the Criminal Code apply to them.</div>]]></description>
