Madison Square Garden (MSG) is the most famous and largest indoor stadium in New York, located in Midtown Manhattan between the 7th and 8th Avenue, and it has a capacity of more than twenty thousand people. Today's building is not the original venue built in 1879 in Madison Square, because over the years it has changed four locations, until 1969, with today's stadium located above the Pennsylvania Station. The Garden is used for professional ice hockey and basketball, as well as boxing, ice shows, circuses, professional wrestling, concerts and other forms of sports and entertainment. It is the home of the New York Knicks basketball team and the New York Rangers ice hockey team, and here stars such as Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, Elton John and the Queen performed in their shows. There is also a cinema, a theater, a restaurant and a conference center, where the Republican convention was held in 2004. To visit the MSG there is the "Madison Square Garden All Access Tour", a special package that gives visitors the opporunity to discover the venue behind the scenes, visiting the changing rooms, VIP suites and reliving the best moments of the arena through a virtual reality experience.

- Montaperto Sabrina

The Statue of Liberty is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and originated from the speech of the intellectual Edouard Laboulaye at Versailles in 1865. He supported the Union in the American Civil War and came up with the idea of creating a monument symbolizing the idea of brotherhood between France and America and celebrating the centenary of the two revolutions. This monument was created by the french Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi and Gustave Eiffel; it is then transported by ship to New York where it is inaugurated in its final seat, that is in the port of the Hudson River (in Manhattan, on Liberty Island), by the American President Cleveland on October 28, 1886. The monument represents a woman, the goddess Ragione, whose torch symbolizes Masonic knowledge. She wears a long gown while her bare feet trample on broken chains (symbol of slaves freedom). In his left hand he holds a table that shows the date of the declaration of American Independence while in his right hand a torch lit (symbol of the eternal fire of freedom and justice). At the head there is a crown with seven points (symbol of the seven seas and seven continents) with 25 hypothetical gems.
-Ferace Emanuela

Guggenheim Foundation.

It was designed by the famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright and the Museum was opened on 21 March, 1959. In 2008 the building was modified for its 50th anniversary. Until the new building was finished, Guggenheim’s collection was located on 54th Street under the name of the Museum of Non-Objective Painting. Three years after the death of Solomon R. Guggenheim in 1949, the Museum was renamed after its founder.

The museum displays mostly modern art, ranging from Impressionism to contemporary art and has both permanent collection and temporary exhibitions, there are also lectures by artistics and critics, performances and film screenings.

The Museum’s collection has increased over the years and includes work by artists such as Marc Chagall, Vasily Kandinsky, Piet Mondrian, Pablo Picasso, Edouard Manet or Vincent van Gogh. Due to its limited space and the exchange of artwork between the other Guggenheim museums, the exhibition changes several times a year.

-Giulia Gallina

The National September 11 Museum, the 'People’s Museum' is so defined by those who designed and developed the structure, is the museum dedicated to the tragedy of September 11, located in the area of the World Trade Center, right where the twin towers once stood. The museum tells the attacks of 11/9 and 1993, with the aim of honouring the memory of the nearly 3000 victims of the two events, but above all to tell, to show the world all the meanings of these tragic events, not to forget. The museum develops underground, just where once there were the foundations of the twin towers, so much so that some pieces of the museum are exactly parts of the 2 towers. The history of September 11 is explained through large multimedia screens, archives, authentic finds found on the site of the attack or belonged to those who were there that day. The visit is very touching, also because the memory of what happened is still vivid in many of the visitors, also the audio and video testimonies that you will find in the museum are very touching.
-Simona Loda

It is one of the most famous bridges in the world and is the first bridge built in steel, for a long time it has also represented the largest suspension bridge in the world, with 1800 meters in length and 84 in height, using massive steel cables and two Gothic stone towers to support it. The construction of the bridge began in 1869 and was completed in 1883 on a project by the German engineer John Augustus Roebling, commissioned by the New York Bridge Company. Before starting work, J. A. Roebling died and was replaced by his son Washington Roebling (who was paralyzed during the work) and by Emily Warren Roebling, his son’s wife. Once construction was completed, a plaque was awarded to the Roebling family for their contribution. It required the workforce of 600 workers, 27 of whom died during the work. Six days after the inauguration, 12 people died and 100 injured, in the confusion, due to a false alarm for a possible collapse of the bridge. Later a test was done, to verify that the bridge was stable and safe, where they transported 21 elephants from one side of the bridge to the other. This bridge crosses the East River and connects Manhattan and Brooklyn, two neighborhoods of New York and it was intended to facilitate the movement (not only of people but also of goods) between these two areas.
- Masaia Mattia

The World Trade Center Transportation Hub, better known by the name of Oculus, is the new transport hub of the city of Lower Manhattan and develops in the underground area between tower 2 and tower 3 of the World Trade Center.

The immense structure, which is characterized by the wonderful glass vault that rises towards the sky, was designed by the Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava who with Oculus wanted to depict a white dove freed from the hands of a child.

Symbolically, the architectural structure represents the revival of the city of New York, and in particular of Manhattan, after the terrorist attacks of 11 September 2001.

Oculus, inaugurated on March 3, 2016, from a transport point of view connects 11 subway lines, Path trains and the Hudson Ferry Terminal, but it is also the main access point to reach the World Trade Center, the 9/11 Memorial and Brookfield Place.

The sunlight, which filters from outside the structure through the glass panels, gives life to a play of lights that guarantees excellent lighting. Internally, the large central room is characterized by the bright Italian white marble floor, which is a fascinating sight for visitors who access the structure.

The main function of the World Trade Center Transportation Hub is to represent the main transport hub of Lower Manhattan with all the other districts of the city of New York and beyond.

But one of the key points of Oculus is also the Westfield World Trade Center, a shopping center that is spread over several floors on the sides of the structure, totally managed by Westfield Corporation.

The new shopping center replaces the famous The Mall, which was located at the World Trade Center and which was destroyed during the attacks.
- Sallemi Letizia

Broadway is one of the oldest roadways in New York City and parts of the street date back to pre-colonial times.
The term "Broadway" comes from the street in New York City, famous for its theaters, restaurants, and bright lights and it is best described as a theatre district but not all Broadway theatres are located on this street. In New York there are three streets called Broadway (one in Queens, one in Brooklyn and a third in Staten Island) and other minor streets called East Broadway, West Broadway and Old Broadway.
In 1900, after expansions and new construction, Broadway was the centerpiece of American musical theater and fast becoming the most important commercially in the world, enticing European stars.
Near the end of the 19th century, Broadway was completed by connecting several separate road segments, including the original Native American footpath.
Broadway shows are practically synonymous with New York City, and the word Broadway is often used as shorthand for theater itself.
One of its famous stretches near Times Square, the Great White Way, in Midtown, is home to many Broadway theaters, which hosts an ever-changing offer of theatrical performances, especially musical ones.
Visiting the Great White Way means attending one of 41 large theaters concentrated near Times Square. Millions of tourists flock to the city every year to see the best Broadway shows and recent hits.
-Denise Perotti

The Empire State Building is a skyscraper in the city of New York, located in the Midtown district of the Manhattan district, all between Fifth Avenue and West 34th Street.
The building, which stands on 103 floors and has a total height of 443.2 meters, every year is a tourist destination for over three million visitors who flock to the panoramic terrace of the eighty-sixth floor and the observatory on the one hundred and second. It was also chosen as the hypothetical location for the final scene of the famous film King Kong.
The name was chosen in honor of the state of New York, historically known as Empire State, but it was also suggested by the coincidence with the name of the Indiana quarry where the stone used for the external coating, called Empire Mill Land, came from.
The building houses exclusively commercial offices, including about forty television and radio studios from private broadcasters, a Bank of America branch, some shops, a supermarket and half a dozen restaurants and cafés.
From the terrace of the eighty-sixth floor of the skyscraper it is possible to observe a vast 360-degree panorama of the city and on particularly clear days, it is even possible to see the territories of the four neighboring states: Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

- Micol Paganini

The National September 11 Memorial is a memorial in New York city commemorating the September 11, 2001 attacks and the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. It is an eight acre plaza set within the dense urban fabric of Lower Manhattan, where the former World Trade Center Twin Towers once stood. The Memorial Plaza is an integral part of the project, formed by two reflecting pools. They are recessed thirty feet into the ground and are lined by waterfalls, delineating the location of the former towers. The water table and the voids are clad in a dark gray granite. The names of the victims are incised into darkly patinated bronze panels and appear as shadows during the day, while at night they are illuminated from within. The names are not written in a random way, they are placed in order to reflect social and professional relationships of the victims. Between the trees around the site, one of them has a really strong meaning: a pear tree known as the "survivor tree", because it was found in the rubble on September 11, it was nursed back to health and returned there as a symbol.
-Alice Iossa
