Yes! The government should pass a law to create harsher punishments for people who poach elephants. Elephants should not be hunted for money, and should be protected because thousands of them die each year.
No. The government should not pass a law to create harsher punishments for poachers. The poachers family is relying on the job or poaching elephants.
I believe that the government should create harsher punishments for people who decide to poach elephants. I believe in this because thousands of them die each year, and should be killed only for their tusks to be sold.

There is a law that protects the trade of elephants and their ivory. The International Trade in Elephant Ivory is banned. This was created because of the high demand of ivory, which followed with high rates of poaching. Following along the path of this law, is the Convention for International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES) which "forbids all international trade in an species and its products.
WHY this impact elephants?
This impacts the issue of poaching elephants because it has made poaching, and the sale and trade of ivory illegal. Although this does not stop some people, it is still extremely important to have a illiegal law for this.

The argument for The Stop of Elephant Poaching is thousands of elephants are getting killed, and those who choose to poach elephants should have a harsher punishment. The media views this topic the same way the argument does. Surveys done in China stated that less than a third of those surveyed knew that elephants were slaughtered for their tusks, and 70% believed the tusks would grow back. The media portrays this view by using the word "slaughtered" and giving information about how people are uneducated about poaching. Media also includes that Ivory and elephant poaching isn't only harmful to elephants but the lives of the local people. The media sharing this information demonstrates that the media agreed that the poaching towards elephants needs to stop. Lastly, the media shares that because of the growing population it is increasing numbers of poaching. With populations growing, loss of habitat becomes an issue, effecting elephants life. Overall, the media agrees with the need to stop poaching based on they articles they publish and the way they portray things.

https://www.theelephantsociety.org/facts
https://www.worldwildlife.org/initiatives/stopping-elephant-ivory-demand#:~:text=Each%20year%2C%20at%20least%2020%2C000,fueled%20this%20rampant%20poaching%20epidemic.
https://wwf.panda.org/discover/knowledge_hub/endangered_species/elephants/african_elephants/afelephants_threats/
