Tarring and feathering was a form of punishment. It's roots are in medieval Europe and became infamous in colonial America during the 1760s and 1770s, particularly during protests against British taxation. Most tax collectors, customs officials, loyalists, and those who violated community norms or interests were tarred and feathered. one person that was tarred was John Malcolm he played a significant role in shaping British policy in India and Persia. He was tarred and feathered for when he threatened to hit a boy with his cane, and then fought a shoemaker.

Paul revere was an important part of history, he's mostly known for his big role in the American revolution. in April of 1775 Paul was warned by his friend Joseph Warren, that the British were going to arrest John Hancock and & Samuel Adams. Which then lead Paul revere set of for Charleston, when he arrived he warned the patriots if he wouldn't be able to make his way over the river between them and Boston he would hang lanterns in the christ church he'd hand one if they were arriving by land and 2 lanterns if they would be coming by water. on April 18th he knew it was time to tell the people he hung two lanterns and made his way across the Charles river. After Paul had passed Charlestown neck he began to be chased down by British officers, he escaped the officers by going to Medford,Once in Medford he woke up captain of minutemen. The captain and Paul traveled to Lexington and began to warn the people while warning the people he warned Hancock and Adam that the British were coming to arrest them. While on the road with the captain they met Samuel Prescott, they also met 4 British officers who started chasing them down. As they ran the British shot at them multiple times Dr. Prescott got away by jumping over a low wall and Dawes had also gotten away. As Paul tried to make his own escape he was caught by six British soldiers so he stopped. The soldiers warned they wouldn't hurt him unless he tried to run, so he calmly walked away from the situation and the soldiers took his horse. Paul headed back to Lexington hoping Adam and Hancock were safe. He came back to Lexington, and they most of them packed up and left. Soon after the American Revolution began.
