While I was not surprised to learn about my personal implicit biases, I do it is a good reminder to take those tests sometimes. I liked the sequence of the video followed by the article because the video brought and emotional response (and offered a few valuable suggestions) and the article directly presented strategies to deal with microaggressions. The specific strategies offered really helped provide me with words that I am sometimes at a loss for when encountering microaggressions. -jasper

I liked the concept of walking toward your prejudices that was presented in the Ted Talk. It makes me feel that something negative (bias) can be turned into something positive (learning and friendship).

Like my colleagues, I found Verna Myers refreshing in her insistence that we "stop trying to be good people" and acknowledge the discomfort of both our own innate biases, and the discomfort of calling people out on their own prejudice. This paired nicely with the micro aggressions workshop, which I thought provided some good language and pointers on how to be an active bystander and support someone who has been the victim of them. For those who are uncomfortable with confrontation, it served as a good reminder that that discomfort is something to run towards, not from, when confronting white supremacy, misogyny, transphobia etc.
