After I graduate, I aim to initiate a nonprofit organization that will work in bridging the gap of inequality, particularly for students in remote areas. In the short run, I want to collaborate with nonprofits and youth organizations in Lampung to take action ensuring children from remote areas will gain necessary foundational skills which are literacy and numeracy. The first thing to do is for the nonprofit organization to build a community learning center (PKBM) in underdeveloped areas such as Pesisir Barat, Lampung and Musi Rawas, South Sumatera. In my opinion, PKBM will encourage public participation and be more flexible in providing equitable education in remote and underdeveloped areas. I believe that in order to achieve the SDG of Quality Education, more flexible and faster solutions are needed. I believe that PKBM will play a major role if implemented properly. I intend to use my knowledge to collaborate and design a policy and implementation for PKBM that will help children and students from underdeveloped areas. The main focus is for children at early childhood (PAUD) level to gain foundational skills in learning, and for students at high school level to gain vocational skills to prepare them for working life.

My other career target plan is to be involved in policy making through NGO and international consultancy or work with the regional government towards education policy. The network that I will gain from my program will be essential. I am excited to connect with global scholars around the world in order to collaborate towards a more inclusive learning for the underprivileged, disabled, and marginalized people in Indonesia. I intend to build a framework for educational development in remote areas of Indonesia.

The rich aroma of freshly brewed coffee isn't just a sensory delight; it awakens a burning desire within me – a longing for a brighter future, not just for coffee lovers, but for the farmers who nurture these cherished beans. My years at Louis Dreyfus Company opened my eyes to the intricate world of coffee, from bustling trade floors to meticulously graded beans. Yet, a sense of unease lingered. I witnessed the disconnect between the vibrant coffee scene and the quiet realities of farmers battling low profits, uncertain prices, and the harsh whims of nature.

Then, fate offered a different brew. A one-day workshop in West Lampung, the heart of Sumatra's robusta region, organized by my company in collaboration with the renowned Indonesian NGO, SCOPI, brought me face-to-face with the true heroes of the industry: the farmers. This wasn't just another workshop; it was a potent blend of diverse voices – coffee trading companies, roasters, NGOs, research centers, and government representatives – all united by a shared goal: improving the livelihoods of Indonesian coffee farmers.

Witnessing their weathered faces, etched with years of sun and toil, I saw not just the weight of hardship, but the pride of generations who cared for the land with deep respect. But alongside their resilience, I also saw the whispers of uncertainty – unpredictable weather decimating crops, erosion slowly stealing their land. This wasn't just a statistic; it was a raw human story unfolding before me.

One story, in particular, left an indelible mark. A farmer, participating in our company's agroforestry program, shared with quiet dignity how a seemingly small gesture, an avocado tree, had saved his family during a year of lost coffee harvest. His words, translating to "It kept us afloat the year we lost our coffee harvest," resonated deeply. The impact of that single tree, planted through our program, was a testament to the power of even the smallest actions, a testament to the collective hum of hope that pulsed through the workshop. In that moment, I understood the immense potential of shared commitment. If every company, every individual, every organization embraced this spirit of collaboration, the ripples of change could truly transform the landscape of sustainability, one cup of hope at a time.

My path isn't just about coffee beans; it's about ensuring a world where food security flourishes for everyone, especially for the Indonesian farmers who tirelessly nurture the land. Witnessing their resilience against unpredictable weather and fluctuating markets ignited a lifelong commitment to building a sustainable food future.

This commitment doesn't require fancy technology, but lies within my core. It's woven into the fabric of my vision – a vision where future generations never face empty plates. The MERGED program, with its focus on environmental justice and community-based solutions, feels like the perfect platform to weave my passion into action. I see myself standing alongside Indonesian farmers, not as a detached researcher or technician, but as a friend, a collaborator, and a bridge connecting their voices to the solutions we urgently need.

Specifically, the program's emphasis on connecting with diverse individuals at the Copenhagen and Warsaw campuses excites me. I imagine sharing a cup of coffee, brewed not just with beans, but with shared purpose, with fellow advocates who join me in amplifying the voices of the Tanggamus farmers, one of Indonesia's most renowned robusta-growing regions. The vibrant tapestry of MERGED, woven with diverse perspectives and lived experiences, would be the ideal space to learn, grow, and amplify the voices of these resilient farmers.

Eager to contribute my unique perspective and unwavering dedication to the MERGED community, I see myself not just as a student, but as a bridge between worlds. A bridge between the bustling coffee trade and the quiet resilience of Indonesian farmers, between the whispers of uncertainty and the collective hum of hope for a sustainable future.

Thank you for considering my application. I am confident that my passion, combined with my commitment and desire to learn, would make me a valuable member of your exceptional community.
