I am fighting against the dead since 2 weeks. The war is my reason to live, for you, my dear and for my country. My feet are frozen and I didn't wash myself since 10 days. I think and I will always believe in peace, the war is as horrible as hell.
For example, I will describe my day of yesterday. First, early in the morning, I was awake by Sergent Larry. He told me : "Enemies are arriving ! Run away by Oppy Wood and hide yourself !" So I took my gun and I ran to the good side. I was scared by the rush and I didn't want to kill someone I didn't know. Even if they are Germans. I prayed as much as I could. But if I did nothing, my sergent will not put up with so I targeted an enemy, I ran into and I shoot. I know, I didn't touch him.The guys shoot and the enemies felt. I need to survive to the next rush. And I WILL survive.
Today, we ran into a tank Mark IV. He had to join an other infantry group.
Everyday, it's always the same thing. Always the same shells that fall so close to us, like a storm fall on a tree, we are bombed. In addition to this, Mark passed away (he was a good soldier, a good friend and a good man !). Explosions break out our ears. We can't wait for the end. We wan't the peace now! Saturday 10 , however succession will arrive and if I am lucky, I may be back to the village in four days. Far from the war, the bullets, the soldiers and all those things.
When it rain, we have to kill rats. That's horrible! I built a protection for my bed because they are everywhere.
Oh godness ! Can you please send me seets or food because when we have food, it's a dirty and cold mashed potatoes with a lot of water in it.
Yesterday we didn't eat anyting and we had to still fighting.
