This piece of Indigenous Art reminds me of the symbol for Mexico that Gloria was referring to. She mentions how the Eagle represents the spirit (sun and the father). This History is often erased because the U.S tried to invade Mexico and encouraged them to give up their land. This shows America colonizes land that doesn't belong to them. This art represents the strong symbol of Mexico and how they tried to tear them down but didn't succeed. It relates to Chapter One by showing us the representation of Mexico and how the eagle represents patriarchy. I would describe this as Xipe Topec as there is a bunch of tragic history behind this symbol so we won't repeat the history. This eagle has much more meaning than we think it has.

This piece of art was made by Aaron paquette he is a great artist who makes many indigenous art and this piece of art is one of his work.
History is often erases when people tell themselves the past is past and that they should look forward to the future cause they don't now what the future holds.
This art work in my point of view represent's someone who is embracing here culture and it relates to ch,1 because as i remember we saw a part where Gloria said she just wants to be brown and embrace her culture.
This piece in Nahui Ollin represents Quetzalcoatl because i'ts about a person who walks in beauty representing her/his culture.

This is the piece I choose this piece of art represents the struggle Mexicans face when they do cross the border and even just when they get close to the border the obstacles they face. This is often erased from history by minimizing the struggle that Mexicans face when crossing and in the state. This relates to Ch 1 because the snake in my eyes presents danger and a lot of Mexicans primarily women are in danger when they cross the border. Like the book said women don’t get feed nor use the restroom. They are raped sold into prostitution and they can’t report anything because they came in the U.S illegally. I would label this piece as a Xipe Totec because we can see there’s a lot of hurt and we need to change that moving forward. We need to stop turning a blind eye to things we see.

This piece that i found with from my little friend goggle, this Indigenous art relates to me because of being with family and cherish and love bring with the ones i love and that love. how this relates to chapter one is that people were with there family and with who they know before having to split up after going over the border. that she was with her family and spending time and enjoy it befoer having to take the risk. to have to split up from your family and going with randoms not knowing if you will ever know if your going to see them again is a hard pill to swallow. i would never or could ever go through this in my life.

The piece of art was created by an Aaron Paquette who also has many other wonderful works of art. History is often erased through the destruction of culture. Much of the history of ancient cultures that were in Mexico was destroyed because conquistadors destroyed many things about their culture. The art represents to me the idea of healing. It reminds of our past and how we must return to tradition to a place where we feel like we belong. Throughout chapter 1 the author tries to explain the idea of living in a world without borders where we focus on things that we share in common, which can be coined as the term as healing/transforming. Healing/Transformation deals with the Xipe Totec aspect of the Nahui Ollin where we must forget about the stuff that affects us and we must keep moving forward.

This piece of art is from an artist called Lani Balzan who specializes in designing indigenous canvas art, graphic designing, logo design, etc.
I choose this piece because it reminds me of freedom in many aspects of present day life or historical life whether it be culturally , religiously , or social which is closely associated with Aztech movement called Huitzilopochtli. The Aztech movement that is also associated from this picture is Quetzalcoatl , because the knowledge we gain about the Aztec people's history helped her to explore the journey that society has come from. Or if past events still affect society and communities today. The hawk could also be seen as a symbolizing transformation which is the Aztech movement for Xipe Totec. The artwork could also be a cry out for help or healing by the people who experience distress or a loss of a loved one at the borders as Gloria described in Chapter 1 .

Another reason i choose this artwork is because of the colors and images that she used in the art piece also remind me of victory . This can be seen in chapter 1 , the Battle of the Alamo.

This piece of art was created by Duncan Tonatiuh, a published author, in his book, "Separate Is Never Equal: Sylvia Mendez and Her Family's Fight for Desegregation." This image represents the separation that is present among the people in the borderlands. This separation negatively effects many and is enforced and taught as well. History is often erased by people trying to cover up things that aren't good in their past to try and make them look better. This art represents the forced separation among people of many different races, cultures, religions, and sexualities. These events have been present in our past and in our present. As discussed in chapter 1, much of this separation between people still exists at the border. This separation was influenced by the government trying to get its civilians to see Latino people in a negative light. This represents Xipo Totec because it is saying that we need to forget these outdated views of separation and move forward.

History is often erased with destruction, whether or not it was intentional as a cover up... Some history is lost with time, as rock gets weathered.

This piece by Juane Quick-To-See Smith interweaves scenes of Native American legends, Old West mythology, modern capitalism, and social activism. This piece of art relates to the movement of action, as it is our duty to reform our society after effects of capitalism and cultural mistreatment of Natives has plagued us. The piece itself serves as a call to action. This piece also relates to Chapter 1 as we see just how humane, structured, and prosperous the Native population/community was until it was riddled away by westernization.

The piece of art is very abstract as it is a blue background with 8 planet like shapes floating within a white mass of what almost looks like clouds . I find this artwork very interesting as it was inspired by a dream which are very symbolic to indigenous people and the work itself gives you a lot of freedom to decide how you interpret the piece. the colors in the price also have meaning which i think is beautiful . blue stands for stability and wisdom.
