Candy Dispenser Reflection

1. Our candy dispenser dispenses marbles. First, there is a little lid at the top of the dispenser which you can open to put the marbles inside. Once the marbles are inside the contraption can hold a ton of them and their is some see through wrap so you can see the marbles. Next, one marble at a time falls into a little hole. When you push the ¨button¨ the hole will move to the slide in the back and the marble will go down the slide and come out at the front. You can keep on doing this until all your marbles are dispensed.
2. My favorite part about our machine was the see through wrap because it adds pizzazz to our dispenser. It also adds a realistic side to the dispenser because in real life gumball machines have a round glass holding area. The see through also helps with problems because you can see in the machine and know if it needs a refill or if there is a clog.
3. Improvements are needed in the decoration department. The dispenser works really well but it does not look very pleasant. It lacks color and the tape and hot glue needs to be covered up. The eyes and drawings could also be better.

Float Your Boat Reflection

1. Our challenge was to build a boat that would hold 40 grams in pennies and move on its own 20 inches. Our restrictions were we could not help the boat move with our own body, the boat can't be bigger than 8 by 8 by 8 inches, and you can't go over the materials provided.
2. We tested our prototype by gently placing it in the water and adding the pennies on top while they were still in the bag. We tried to split the pennies apart to hopefully stabilize the boat and the trials in which the boat did float with the pennies we would also try and make it move. At the start our boat with barely float but we added several different modifications (as shown to the right on data table sheet) and 2 of our trials actually did hold the pennies and floated. After these 2 trials we were in the process of trying to make it move when we cut a hole at the bottom to let some water in so the propeller can work but the hole was to big and the boat did not float after that.
3. No, in the end our prototype did not work. Some things we could have improved was the material we used. The popsicle sticks worked and all but the more you put it in the water the more it falls apart. Another thing we should have done is made the hole at the bottom for the water to come through smaller. One final thing we should have done was added the propeller at the back of the boat instead of the middle.
