The antagonists in The color purple would be Mr. and Pa. Mr. was a very aggressive man and took most of his aggression out on Celie; he physically and emotionally abused her throughout her child and teenage years. From Celie getting abused for not being able to live up to Mr.'s former lover and mentally degrading her. Though this happened near the end of the book we see Mr. change. A major development is the curse that Celie gives Mr. which the curse was more of blessing causing Mr. to become a better person.
