The Ancient Egyptians used Hieroglyphics to write. Hieroglyphics a system was invented in 3100 B.C. The word hieroglyph means “sacred carving”. There are about 700 symbols in hieroglyphs. Scribes used hieroglyphics to write and record things down.To be a scribe, you would need to go to scribe school at the age of five, for twelve years and be a male. You would have memorized over 700 symbols of hieroglyphs and teachers were strict.They wrote on papyrus papers with a stylus and would write down military info, food supplies, taxes, court cases, laws, ceremonies and the government census. But over time, this system of writing was forgotten. However, the Rosetta Stone helped decode hieroglyphics. Because there were three languages, including hieroglyphs with all the same text. Such as Ancient Greek, which was never forgotten… so people were able to translate hieroglyphics.

✞Religion✞
Like many ancient civilizations, they believed in powerful deities. The Egyptians were polytheistic and believed in many gods and goddesses that controlled a part of nature, society and basic principles of life. They did this to have a “purpose in life”, to feel like they were watched over and protected and to explain things they did not understand. Such as what happens when you died and how the world was created. The Ancient Egyptians created temples for their gods and goddesses, Temple priests and priestesses watched over the temples in Egypt and also held religious ceremonies and gave offerings to please the gods. The High Priest oversaw all religious ceremonies and advised the pharaoh.

👮Government👮
The government of Ancient Egypt wasn’t really a “government”. Ancient Egypt was ruled by dynasties of royalty. And were said to be descendants or children of the gods. This is the reason why rulers of Ancient Egypt married in their family. They only wanted to marry descendants of the gods, not ordinary, pure mortals. Another important person in Ancient Egypt’s government was the Vizier. The Vizier was second in command, and was the highest official who would serve the pharaoh. The High Priest also had power. Because in Ancient Egypt they highly respected the gods. He would advise the pharaoh and oversee all religious ceremonies.

In Ancient Egypt, they ranked you by your social status. And did this with the help of the handy social structure. The social structure was divided into 6 groups. Peasants on the bottom, artisans, scribes, priests, government official and the pharaoh. This ranked factors such as your wealth, property and rights.
