Firstly, the cliche plot. I think it is quite boring to make a story where a boy changes due to the presence of a girl in his life. I feel dispise towards Cricket because he only started to change due to his crush, Wynona while along that way before, there are a lot of other people like Mother Mary and his school principal that are always trying to help him to be a better person. Other than that, i dislike the way that Cricket sometimes have this icky imagination towards Wynona, rather than that pure feeling of love that attracts him to her. I do not understand why do we need to define our happiness through other people. Why do we need to acknowledge our life is not that bad, only when we are loved by someone. Despite that, i agree with the way the author wrap up the story by actually due to an accident and the death of Grub, his friend that makes him realizes that he owns a second chance and that he still has a life, no mattter how awful he think it is, because his close friend now, don't even have one. But, at the end of the day, if i think back how it was told, real life story is mostly like that. A boy changes because of women that they are physically attracted to and all these thoughts or monologues Cricket have along the way, is something true, when we put it out of the book.
