This book is about them discovering the cause of his absence and what his secret is. They are involved in this web of Gods and Prophecies but they no nothing of it. Every time he asks a question about it, his parents hesitate and lie to him... At one point he doesn't care but he starts to mourn and he doesn't want to leave his friends behind. Unfortunately they do leave. Many people who have read the book or watched the film adaptation believe that it is a true story based on real people and real events. However this book is a work of fiction, but it gives a big message. As it says on the cover..."Lines may divide us, but hope may unite us." We can link this with borders that separate countries. Even separated, many people still unite with each other to create a new generation or family. Unfortunately, the boy in the striped pyjamas is killed, he arrives in the camp just as the final group of prisoners is being sent to the gas chamber.
