I think people were motivated to colonize the new lands because of the king in England. Maybe some people didn't like him  because of his rules and laws that he enforced, it could have also been because of poverty or wars.
2. If I was in this situation, I don't think I would take the risk of going to these new lands because of all the sicknesses and infections that the crew of the boat got. Also, I wouldn't have had any guarantee that the new lands that were being explored would give me the type of life that I wanted, meaning I wasn't being promised anything. The citizens got angry and gathered in groups to find their own land that they could claim and make their own rules on. 
2. Yes I would go, this is because I like to adventure places. Also I would like to travel and find new places in the world to live other then the few continents that were originally discovered. Yes, it might be harsh having low pay, and strict rules but it would be exciting to be one of the founders of a new country. I don't get seasick and I like beef and all of the food they had on the ship. I think the colonists wanted to leave because the King didn't care about anyone's decision. He was unfair and treated people wrongly. The country had a certain religion that you had to be, no exceptions. The king was a harsh man which is why people wanted to leave.
2. I would not want to sail a long trip like Portugal to Miami. I would not want to sail because many people were killed, people got sick easily, harsh weather conditions, it took months to get to the destination, only one pair of clothes, and the food was unbearable.
