What is the 1 thing you already know about this disorder?

That you can have a hard time concentrating and focusing also that everyone can react to it differently. E Mills

What is the disorder and the definition?

The disorder is Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, ADHD. The definition is when one has the problem of not being able to focus, being overactive, not being able to control behavior, or a combination of them. In addition, these problems must be out of the normal range for a person’s age and development. KC

What are the possible causes of the disorder and what part of the brain is affected?

It is not clear what causes ADHD, but it is likely that a combination of genes and environmental factors play a role in the development of the disorder. The frontal lobe of the brain is affected by ADHD because it is the problem solving and organizational part of the brain. KC

What are signs and symptoms of the disorder?

Some symptoms include aggression, fidgeting, excitability, learning disability, hyperactivity, irritability, short attention span. KM

When does it occur the most or what age do you start to see symptoms?

You can start seeing ADHD symptoms most commonly around the ages of 7-12, this is when most symptoms start to show. But, it can be diagnosed as early as the age of 3. E Moss

What are the treatment options?

There are many different treatments and therapy sessions you can go to such as family therapy or behavior therapy. Some Other options can consist of stimulant medication or even just a simple fidget toy to keep them distracted in order to help with their focus. E Moss

What are the short and long term effects of the mental disorder?

If you are taking medication that can have an effect on your appetite, and weight loss or gaining weight. You can also have a really high heart rate and blood pressure, you can also get tired. Some long term effects are finding new ways to concentrate, being able to concentrate without taking medication, but other than that there are not really any long term effects of ADHD. E Mills

Write down 3 other things you learned or interesting facts about this disorder.

Some other facts that I found interesting, one being the average age of diagnosis is 7 years old, another fact you start showing signs from ages 3-6. Something that I learned is that ADHD is just a childhood disorder and you can overcome it with older age. KM

Write down 2 things you still wonder or the research doesn’t understand yet about this disorder.
Two things I still wonder about ADHD is if ADD is considered ADHD and if the treatment is the same for both. KC

https://www.mentalhealth.gov/what-to-look-for/behavioral-disorders/adhd this link is very helpful

https://www.aacap.org/AACAP/Families_and_Youth/Facts_for_Families/FFF-Guide/ADHD_and_the_Brain-121.aspx#:~:text=The%20frontal%20lobe%20is%20the,Problem%20Solving used for the part of the brain

https://www.webmd.com/add-adhd/childhood-adhd/adhd-kids-med-use
