He explained that his job deals with much of the discipline aspect of school. Since his position deals with discipline, he must be up-to-date with the state and federal policies, as well as the local policy set by the district. Administrators must follow the legal requirements and must be in compliance, especially when dealing with special education students. He explained that the make sure they focus on the specific requirements outlined by IDEA and the Texas Education Code. He mentioned that the most common legal requirement he has dealt with was the changing of placement for special education students. With the requirements outlined in IDEA, many school districts are working are becoming compliant with the laws. His outlook was to make sure you know the guidelines and follow them.<br><br></div><div>Mr. Carmichael believed some of the best practices are:<br><br></div><div>·         Use the resources available in the district</div><div>·         Lean on administrators who have experience</div><div>·         Do not be afraid to ask for help in determining if you are following the correct protocol<br><br><br><br><br></div><div><br><br></div>]]></description>
