The basic understanding of what causes Alzheimer's is when the brain's protein fails to function as usual on chromosome 21. This disrupts the work of brain cells, also called neurons, and triggers. The neurons become damaged and lose connections to each other. Which leads to their death.
Alzheimer's disease - Symptoms and causes - Mayo Clinic
