Have you ever felt like Wilbur, where it seemed like everyone was against you? How did you handle those feelings, and what made you feel better?

“When the first light came into the sky and the sparrows stirred in the trees, when the cows rattled their chains and the rooster crowed and the early automobiles went whispering along the road, Wilbur woke and looked for his friend. ‘Charlotte,’ he said softly. The old sheep opened one eye and looked at him. ‘Where is Charlotte?’ she asked. ‘She’s still asleep,’ said Wilbur. ‘Let’s not wake her up.’”

Just like Wilbur searched for Charlotte in the morning, have you ever had a friend or family member that you always look for first thing in the morning? Why is it important to have people who make you feel safe or happy?

“‘I think you’ll like her,’ said the goose. Wilbur saw a creature who was stronger than he, who could protect him. He wasn’t sure if he liked her, but he needed her. ‘You sound friendly,’ he said. ‘Yes, I am,’ replied Charlotte. ‘I’ve watched you all day and I like you too. What do you think of me?’”
