         <description><![CDATA[<p>SDG stands for "Social Development Goals", and it is made up of 17 targets that the United Nation plans to complete by the year 2030.</p><p><br/></p><p>The SDGs related to Fair Trade are:</p><p><br/></p><p>SDG 1 - NO POVERTY</p><ul><li><p>Ensure social security to the vulnerable and poor</p></li><li><p>Help to increase the basic supports needed by people</p></li><li><p>Give service to people that were hurt by climate-related situations, environmental situations, and other social shocks</p></li></ul><p><br/></p><p>SDG 4 - QUALITY EDUCATION</p><ul><li><p>Everyone gets high quality education and development during their childhood</p></li><li><p>Abolish school segregation</p></li></ul><p><br/></p><p>SDG 8 - DECENT WORK AND ECONOMIC GROWTH</p><ul><li><p>Generally acceptable work for everyone</p></li><li><p>Productive employment</p></li><li><p>Sustainable economic growth</p></li></ul><p><br/></p><p>SDG 10 - REDUCED INEQUALITIES</p><ul><li><p>Decrease any inequalities in income and payment</p></li><li><p>Reduce imbalance for those who are judged by age, race, ethnicity, religion, disability, origin, sex, etc</p></li></ul>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Bananas are currently the most fair-traded items around the globe. The places that it is most traded from is Latin America and the Caribbean, with 90% of bananas being from just those two areas.</p><p><br></p><p>There are over 1000 different varieties of bananas in the world, but the most globally produced and consumed type is the Cavendish, which is the generic yellow fruit we all know of.</p><p><br></p><p>These bananas are different from other banana types due to their taste, texture, and genetic makeup.</p><p>The Cavendish is known for its sweet flavour and soft texture, making it popular for eating as well as being used for cooking.</p><p>They also even have a thick skin that preserves the fruit while being kept in storage and transported. The Cavendish banana is resistant to this strain, making it the best banana for commercial production.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Bananas are refined on small-scale farms and large plantations, and fair-trade works with both productions. Smallholders produce only 5% of the globally traded bananas, but plays a large role in rural growth.</p><p><br></p><p>Banana farmers and the 600,000 banana workers in global supply chains suffer from low income because of large price pressure in the supply chains. The pressure originates with consumers and retailers: Retailers often lean on the appeal of cheap bananas to draw shoppers to the store.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>If we spread this information a little more to the public, since this isn’t a topic people talk about everyday, we could get people to donate to</p><p>fair-trading communities in order to support them and help even more farmers that have been working unfairly for large companies.</p><p><br/></p><p>A way to make this even better is if the people that were aware about this problem started to buy from these fair-trading businesses. Influencing friends and family into purchasing from these places would be extremely helpful as well.</p>]]></description>
