My culture is a huge part of my identity. My family is originally from Gambella, Ethiopia. We are Anyuak. The Anyuak or Anywaa people are a Luo Nilotic ethnic group that inhibited parts of East Africa. The Anywaa tribe is only one of the six largest ethnic groups in Gambella, Ethiopia.

My family is one of the biggest parts of my identity. We are a very close-knit family; my most wonderful memories are with them.

Art

My ability to braid is my art and it is more than just a hairstyle. It is a form of self-expression and has deep roots in my culture. I have mastered this skill through hard work over the years. I was able to create a business out of this. Whether it's braided or natural, I am glad I've found a way to present my love for art through my work.

Running has been a part of my life since I was 10. I've run competitively and for fun for many years. I feel great while I run and after. I can't imagine a life where I wasn't actively running/staying active.
