Choosing this fable has opened quite the artistic door for many interpretations of the original story. The original story teaches perseverance in the face of a long-term, near impossible task and finding out the hard way that the only back that can truly carry your weight is your own. Since this story has been told in a variety of interpretations and forms of media, I also will be taking a more creative route, while still resolving the overall themes of the fable.
The characters (depending on available talent) may be live or puppeteered animals, accompanied by minimal costumes, but with enough visual details to feature the plethora of emotions felt by the characters.
The location will suggest a natural setting, most shots can be done outside in a garden, with lighting reflecting the mood of the scene for sake of continuity of character. The more internal shots can be done indoors with lighting and shades to reflect the thoughts of the characters.
The time period will be kept in canon with the original concept. (Possible Western theme)
The music will change with the tone of the scenes, the beginning a will introduce a more upbeat bluegrass, the middle a solemn struggling tune, and the ending with a victorious hoedown-ish banjo run accompanied with full band.
