First National Bank of Omaha was among the first businesses to rescind their donations to the NRA. This happened only eight days after the school-shooting in Florida when 17 people got killed with an AR-15 rifle.

The corporations are becoming more aware in the way that they are responsive to political outcries and scandals, which possibly could affect their company and their brands. This can be the reason why many corporations have rescinded their donations to the NRA.

He became an actor in Hollywood, and over 50 years he acted in 100 films.
However he also had a very political life. In 1963 he supported Martin Luther King in liberty demonstrations.
After the killing of president Kennedy, Heston proposed to the congress a strict gun-law that could control the many weapons in USA.
In the 1980's Heston changed his political view and became more conservative rather than liberal.
Charlton Heston became president of the National Rifle Association (NRA) in the years of 1998-2003.
He restored the legacy of NRA. With more involvement in the political front.
Heston's NRA took a hard line against any and all forms of gun control.

In a speech before the NRA (year of 2000) he held a rifle over his head and said the following "From my cold, dead hands". By this he refers to the gun-protestors, who cannot force a gun-control, that eventually will take his guns away. This clearly describes the views of Heston.

However, this is not the case and is a made-up picture by Hollywood films. This fantasy is often referred to as “The Wild West”. Gun control is an old phenomenon in the American frontier and as early as in October 1881 the Marshall Vergil Earp of Tombstone in Arizona (before it was declared a state) ran a gun control to protect the citizens from a conflict. (Jancer, Matt: “Gun Control Is as Old as the Old West”, Smithsonian, 2018). 
Furthermore, according to a professor of history Stephen Aron there were actually passed laws to prohibit the carry of guns in towns. This was done in 1878 in Kansas in Dodge City by a government. Many other incidents of gun legislation were present in the Old West, what made it quite less Wild. (Jancer, Matt: “Gun Control Is as Old as the Old West”, Smithsonian, 2018). 
Moreover, another article (Tucker, Jennifer: “Gun control is steeped in American Frontier”, Timesunion, 2015) mention other arguments worth mentioning. Firstly, it is said that no gun-control law was more common in the late 1800s — on the frontier and elsewhere — than bans on concealed weapons. The first bans on possession of concealed weapons in public were adopted in Kentucky 
and Louisiana in 1813. 
Additionally, to further underline the presence of gun control in towns and states back in the 1800’s pictures such as bellow is visual proof that gun control was existing at this time.

As of 2017 their total yearly budget amounts to $250 million and their official yearly spendings on lobbying amount to around $3 million. This number has gradually increased over the years. However, most of their transactions are quite difficult to track.

This is as they, by lobbying, pay for the support of politicians on the matter of gun law. Consequently, they have a huge saying on the political agenda in the US. Furthermore, the NRA publically grades politicians from A to F on how gun-friendly they are which also has a large effect on the poll numbers and can even cost a candidate his/her seat. In the 2016 election gun lobbyist donated $5.900.000 to republicans and $106.000 to democrats. The fact that the Wild West period in the US us still rather recent, has been given as a reason for the special passion that many Americans seem to have for guns. During this period, the frontier of western civilisation was pushed still further west, and weapons were necessary for survival both because hunting animals was an integral part of that survival, and because there were often violent conflicts with the native peoples and other settlers.
