Out of the eight ethical standards, the one that stuck out to me the most was about maintaining a professional relationship with students. Social media can challenge this because students will add teachers on social media all of the time, but it is our job to set that boundary and not add or follow them back on any social media. One example that could challenge these ethics is a student coming to me and telling me about abuse in their household, but not wanting me to speak up about it. As a teacher, I am a mandated reporter and would have to go tell administration even if the student didn’t want me to.
