If I were the CEO of WOSA, some other tactics I would use to combat the HRW report include creating better housing environments for the workers and just creating an overall better working environment. When scandals like this come out it’s easy to simply just cover it up and not do anything to fix it, however it isn’t ethically and morally right. Therefore, making better working conditions and promoting better working conditions to the public can significantly help.

In my opinion, I believe that the pork industry's response wasn’t very effective. Although it is smart and producing videos for the public to see can be effective in the short term I believe in the long term it won’t be. Becoming knowledgeable on this industry is important as well because it can show consumers and viewers that some of the treatment may look bad but all of it may not actually be harming the animals. I think this is a very controversial topic and no matter what the pork industry does they won’t be very successful making themselves look good.

Although I think how WOSA responded to the HRW report was exactly how I would have responded (defensive response and some rectifying behavior) I think a response that also could have been taken is an offensive response. I think that by WOSA attacking the claims made form HRW especially emphasizing all the issue they had with HRW evidence and overall claims could have swayed attention to HRW and helped take attention off of WOSA.

This is a very interesting topic, and I remember talking about this in a few of my environmental classes. It is very inhumane how these sow are raised, and also contributed to the H1N1 outbreak. I believe their responses were effective, because they were reactive in their responses and actively made a change, as well as improving conditions.
I think the "We Care" campaign was a good idea, because it was made to inform the public with facts about port, as well as the industry's progress in improving the situation.
I do believe the HSUS's campaign to get rid of gestations crates was successful, because they now ensure that the stalls are not crowded, and are not forced to be in gestation stalls.

Considering the situation, I imagine they did whatever they could. They engaged with individuals to raise awareness about the importance and spent money on movies and certain other visualizations to help educate people about what may be going on. Consumers need to understand about the pork sector, in my opinion. The pork sector, on the other hand, continues to face criticism and has a long record in terms of improving its practices.
