The ARD that is held for this new student is called a Transition ARD and generally happens before school begins - each school district holds enrollment for new students before school actually starts. Yes Sir, so for instance, let's say an accommodation decision is made in 9th grade for US History; however, in 10th grade, the learner doesn't need this same accommodation for Government, the accommodation decision can definitely be revised. The criteria would be data (or at least a rationale given) that the school would show to the ARD committee and then altogether the committee decides on whether to keep the accommodation, revise it, or drop it from the learner's plan. This is just one example - there are many, many decisions that could be made one year and then changed really at any point. Because schools are under IDEIA mandates, and if the schools data shows the learner is not making progress in the general education realm, we are under obligation to serve the student appropriate (FAPE) - so we must continue to recommend this to parents.
