Kids often need prompting/cues to make connections with what they know and what is being said/presented. EdPuzzle lets you build those formative checks right in to cultural videos or even Screencastifys of my own lessons. LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!!

You make it "live lesson" give student the code and control their screens like you would if they were sitting in front of you. It works well and also integrates with Canvas to make grading much easier!

I always gave feedback via paper/pencil but I love Speed Grader in Canvas. The tools are versatile. I created a series of ready to use comments (ex This statement is wrong. Tell me why?) to copy and paste in. When students get a piece of paper back, they are more inclined to dismiss the comments and feedback because out of sight, out of mind. In Canvas, students get a notification of feedback and they are more inclined to check the feedback when the option for grade improvement is dangling in front of them. The key is getting students into the habit of following up on feedback early in the year.
