Alina Cherny and Nicholas Bowman I’m sitting on the couch, ”Turn on channel 32.” I command to the T.V. Family Feud comes on. Just as Steve Harvey was finishing his question, the president's face appears onto the screen. “Attention all citizens of the USA, we are under a national state of emergency. Unplug or turn off all smart technology, then bring out your old radios. We’ll tell you more in a few minutes.” I go downstairs to shut off our SmartHouse. As I walk into the dusty attic to find the old radio transmitter, the sirens start blaring. “ATTENTION! EVERYBODY MUST REMAIN INSIDE! REPEAT! EVERYBODY MUST REMAIN INSIDE!” Well, there goes my afternoon plans. I click the ‘on’ button on the rusty, brown, 1974 antique . “ The Government of the United States has an important announcement. We are experiencing a nation-wide system virus monitored by aliens. ” Oh no, it's happening. I've only heard of unlikely things like this in school. Viruses are said to be unstoppable. City after city, they spread like wildfire. It’s all because of Smart technology, this company called SmartTech. They have installed “Smart” stuff all over the city; they practically own the place. Now since the aliens hacked into the city’s SmartDatabase, they can do anything that they want to do!!!Two Months LaterEver since the invasion humans have been forced into hiding. We have been living off of nothing, we have to hunt for our food and chop down trees for fires. Most people barely have any clean clothes. Water is scarce. Although some people have it better than others, humanity is struggling to survive. We can’t go anywhere near where the aliens territory or the Smart technology will kill us. Worse, torture us for information. Then, one day, a new girl shows up. “I have information.”

The world has a population of 11.2 billion. This is the first colonization attempt. 10 people have volunteered and been chosen. That includes me. My parents are happy, but also sad since this is a one way trip. From tomorrow onwards I will not see any one I know and love. The only people with me will be the crew.
If this mission is a success, we will be able to distribute the population and actually control it. I volunteered knowing there is no going back. I want to do this because being a normal person no one knows who you are, but now I get a chance of people actually knowing me. I won’t feel like a normal person who only a few people know. I get to be someone who will be admired.
The mission can go wrong in many ways, but I am leaving earth with a positive attitude. I think of all the things that could go right. Even if I die, I die knowing tried to make the world a better place.
The people behind this project have made sure it is as safe as possible. There are emergency escape pods built into the rocket. At least I am not alone. I have other people with me, not a lot, but some. I hope my skills will be useful for the team. This is my last entry on Earth, but certainly not my last entry.

Actually the xlr8 voyager isn’t actually a satellite it’s more of HIT or hyper-speed intergalactic transport. I heard that on one of the old earth files that we have to watch as part of the history course we’re required to do. It’s funny seeing what Old Earthans thought Sci Fi was. Pretty much everything nowadays is a reference to Old Earth. I’m an 18th gen. We have been on this ship for almost 2 thousand years travelling at light speed or close to it towards a very special binary system. It has been very thoughtfully called Orbitra Perfectus. It is called this because it is ancient Latin for perfect orbiter, because it is exactly that! It is the first and only perfect binary system to date. However it is a very odd binary system because since it is a perfect binary system its stars were born at almost the exact same time. This means that when one star collapses/goes supernova they both will causing the solar system to be shaken around because it is going into duel cardiac arrest. This will not happen for another 7 billion years though. You are probably wondering where the planet is, because with both stars rotating around the center it might come close enough to one star to be disintegrated by the heat. However this is not the case because Orbitra Perfectus is unique in the universe. Its suns are far enough apart to make a perfect goldilocks zone it the dead center about the size of Jupiter. Pretty soon after the solar system was born the rest of the matter condensed into the planet of Ultima Terram. Since it’s at the center of the solar system you would think that it would have a huge gravitational pull, but since both suns have a mass of approximately two times the mass of our old star it almost evens out. We arrive next week. When we arrive we will probably deploy insta-biomes while the terraforming takes place, because even though it is in a goldilocks zone which is perfect for life it is still in the hadean period. While terraforming takes place most of the people on the ship will probably be drafted into the construction of the TDE or twin dyson engine. This should only take about 2 thousand years. I’ll be drafted when I’m 130. I can’t wait! We arrive tomorrow. Over and Out, Isaac Miller

Drewathen Z. Mewmix (Sid S. and Elliot N.)October 26th, 2105 (The world ends with us)By the time of 2105, the world changed completely. Wealthy started to never die and the poor drank the remanence potion that changed the world. It all started when immortality became a reality. Richard Benson, William The III, and more started to seek interest in the potion that makes immortality possible. My name is Drewathen Z. Mewmix. I am on the verge of being able to drive a car and I am against the new potion that has been made. I am 16 years old. The world is changing rapidly as we speak. There is now 25 billion people in the world and the food stock is starting to run low. I think in about 10 years, we could go extinct. Overpopulation could cause us all to die. I am very scared and I think the only way we can have a chance at surviving is banning the potion from all parts of the world. When I first learned about the new and upcoming potion, it was a normal day. I woke up and turned on the TV. I could see the news talking about the new potion that was created. Everyone was so happy that people could live forever. I was happy at first, but then realized that it could be a big problem in the future. I guess I was right. 8 years later and now only the very, very broke people are dying. It was a Saturday morning. I woke up happy because after all, there was no school. I was scrolling through my phone and realized that the population was expected to increase by 12 billion over the next 5 years. I was really scared knowing that if this prediction was actually real, the whole world could be in big trouble. After all of the food started running out in the beginning of the whole catastrophe, people started to panic. Riots, boycotts, and protests for scientists to stop ever making this potion ever again, the poor die and the rich live, that was their motto. I mean after all there's soon only gonna be rich people in the world and what is money worth after this? The people who made this potion didn’t realize all of the after affects that could happen if the whole plan worked. You see the rich don't care what they do with there money or you could say the dont see the aftereffects or the destruction there causing. The rich only see for themselves which is what make them selfish and that is what I despise. The only way we can solve this problem is banning the potion from all states and make it illegal to own it. I think the government will start to solve this once the population increases even more over the next few years. It will get out of control and then the government will step in. That is my prediction. If that doesn’t happen, I have a good feeling that the whole world will slowly die. It is a really bad situation right now for all of the people who can’t afford the potion, like me. If we want to be able to live, we will have to step in by protesting our case. I think we can do this as a whole community as middle class and poor people. If you are reading this in the future, just know that I could be dead while your reading this. If you are reading this rich, you could’ve stepped up and tried to stop it, but you didn’t. If you did, I will probably be alive and I would like to thank you. Hopefully I’ll be alive. Sincerely, Drewathen

9-6-17

I’m John and I’m about to die. I just turned 18 and I have to fight to the DEATH in boxing. We have been doing this for 40 years and Earths population has declined by almost 50%. I know I will die, even if I win I will fight again and again until I die and there is a 1/100 chance I’m going to win against everyone. My parents are dead my family (besides kids under 18) are dead, and all my friends are dead. I am going to what used to be known as L.A to fight, be we call it the city of no return. I might be able to win because most of the population is under 18 and a lot of the fighters will K.O each other so I only have to fight 100 people and I win so good I guess.

It’s one day before my fight and I’m going to eat with my siblings, they are acting really weird.

“Hey John lets go leave!” said Meg.

“If I leave they will hunt me down and kill me at least I have a chance and if I win I will try my best to save you.”

“But…” said my younger brother Caleb.

“I will win and get the secret prize.” I said.

If you win the robots said there’s a secret prize. People think it’s a house, a car, or a chance to save you friends and family, but I think it’s something bigger.

I was about to go into my first match when I heard someone say my name, I looked around and didn’t see anyone. I figured I was just going crazy so I went in… The first match was easy then I got kind of tired. I kept fighting and then I heard a “DING, DING” a robot was on the loud speaker he said get ready and then almost 50 people came running out. We all started fighting, at this point I was so scared but I had to live so I started fighting too. I felt bad killing all those people but I had to live, and finally there was one left and he said something.

“Your John!” he said it softly.

He explained that he was running from the robots for years but when he got caught they didn’t kill him and gave him a chance. It was my older brother Chase. Now I really didn’t know what to do I knew he ran and I thought he was dead but he wasn’t, how could I kill my older brother and it’s on my birthday. So we talked but then the robots said we had to fight so I did. And I killed him. He had gotten weaker over the years I guess running from the robots that long must have broken a couple bones. I felt really bad killing him, it was the worst thing I have ever done. The robots promised me anything I wanted I found a way to get my younger siblings to live. A couple years later I was searching the city and I found a weird glowing light. I went in and found a glowing machine it had a door and I went in. I closed the door and looked out the window, everything around me started to glow I didn’t know what to do. It said 2032. I was confused, I got out and there was an old man in there.

He said “finally it worked, please what happened, please, please, please.”

I said “ what are you talking about?”

“You’re from the future right? 2072?”

            “Yeah I am why?”

            “its 2032”

            I was confused.

            “why am I here.”

The old man said in a very soft voice” What happens in the boxing tournament?”

            I explained what happened.
“Then I killed my own brother.” I explained.

The old man started soft, “I told them it was a bad idea, I TOLD THEM!”

Then I got sent back and it was so different there was so many adults just walking around. The old man changed it.

By, Ayla Kirchner and Marissa Lowry

It was 2063 and a new year. I didn’t have much luck last year but this year would be even worse. They halved our water supply in our city. Our city chops wood and the more we chop the more supplies we receive from them. By them I mean the dictator and her workers. Basically they work for her and they get rich overnight. No one knows her name, she just goes by “The Leader”. All the men in our city have to chop wood because most of the women are mothers. The women have to take all the other jobs. Our city is very cold and only has a population of around 700 people but somehow we survive.

Last year most of the trees got infected and died so they cut off half of our water this year. Since I’m only thirteen I don’t have to get a job and luckily I don’t have to chop wood ever. I will probably will take after my mother at the bakery when I turn sixteen. Today I go to the forest to hunt and gather for my city. I usually hunt with a slingshot and about 25% of the time it works, this time I make it. There’s dinner I think. I am saving up for a bow. I love nature and i try to make extra money by selling berries and herbs. There are multiple cities but I don’t know them all because they don’t teach us this in school. I know our city is called “Lumber City”. (creative am I right?) The city next to us digs for precious metals and gems.

When I got home, my mom looked at me as pale as a ghost and said, “Someone is here to see you Beth”. There were 3 of The Leader’s workers, fully armed. They set down my grandma’s china glasses, thanked my mom, and told me to come with them. They led me out and into their helicopter...

Kyndall Diallo- Monday, November 27, 2023 As the day comes closer and closer I get even more excited and anxious at the same time. Myles and I have been working on this for the past 6 months maybe even more, but now it’s only 2 days away. Putting all the work we’ve put into this in perspective would be just crazy but if this all works out and everything goes smoothly then we’ll be golden and all this time would be worth it. Now what is all of this that I’m so hyped about you might ask? Well let me explain, about 5 years ago the online shopping empire totally took over, and not just Amazon but places like Target, Best Buy, and Wal-Mart realized that online shopping is becoming the way the world is leaning towards. By now most if not all shopping is done online, apart from the select few who will go to farmer's markets or local organic food stores in person. So, one would think that if all shopping is done online and people were entering their credit and debit cards in websites every day that online security would have to be top-notch if not impossible to get into the system and hack it all right….? Well that’s exactly where we come in, so Myles and I have been friends since maybe 6th or 7th grade I'm not really sure all I know is that we’re now in our 2nd year of college and we’ve been friends for a long time. He’s the only person that I would trust when it comes to something as big as this. We became friends while doing a hacking competition as we were on the same team we worked together and quickly became friends, now were about to possibly execute the biggest hacking heist the U.S. maybe even the world has ever seen. Here's our plan, we hack into one of the biggest online banking websites know as Capital One. Now while you might think that it would be much smarter to hack into something like Chase or Bank of America with assets in the trillions, but there are a few things that make it a flawed idea, for starters it’s going to be a lot harder to hack into such a huge company as Chase because they need to keep everything as safe as possible to keep the clients they already have and to attract new ones. Now while Capital One with assets in three hundred billions is still going to be extremely hard it is most definitely possible. What we plan to do is get debit card information from as many people as possible and make small purchases, ones that wouldn’t alert a bank company that someone is using your card, and ones that one blend into the bank statement and wouldn’t make the person suspicious. Since all shopping is done online nobody needs to go to stores so most big retail outlets make it so that if you want to return something you just ship it back and they will give you the money back in your account, so we are going to hack into the account and change where all the money goes so that it goes to us, I guess when you think about we aren’t just hacking Capital One. So once you’ve decided that your want to return the item they send you an email to tell you that you decided to return the item and what account it’s going to, so we have to hack into the account and change the email so that the victim never finds out. It’s simple when you think about it and lay it all out but the execution isn’t something anyone can do, or something anyone can learn one mistake and everything could be ruined.

The year is 2056. The world has changed from happy neighbors, walking from house to house, asking for a cup of sugar, to dark streets being overrun with bloodthirsty bandits, searching for and stealing pocket change in the alleyways. Ever since the government added the policy, the world has turned to be full of thieves. Sixteen years before, lab experiments were conducted in private, and they found a cure for what most fear, that which is death. They basically turned life into an injection. This increased the population by a ton obviously, and caused some families to all move into one house because of crowd control. Before, the injection was to be given to all the citizens who kept their record clean, but the government, being greedy as usual, decided that this substance could only be obtained for the wealthy. Thus, everyone who wasn’t high class in society started panicking, and me being a normal person, I was one of the millions.

Right now, I am writing this next to a fallen dumpster by the torn down apartments, because I can’t afford a holoscreen computer. I believe these apartments were conquered by a group of outlaws; about one hundred and fifty killed those two days. I’m not actually sure if this was the specific one though, there’s so much going on. I’ve contemplated joining some bandits before. One lot promised me one of those fancy tablets, but I heard they steal from each other on a regular. So for now, I’m just a small thief, running like a rat in an alleyway. Finding money is hard work. Most stores have gone out of business due to crime, but there’s been one elderly man who’s given me a couple bucks before. He runs an old hoverboard shop, but I don’t think he gets much business nowadays. I wonder if I can just pay him once I get enough money for one. I’ve asked him to be my lookout, but I don’t expect him to do very good. At least the man knows how to shoot a phaser gun.

The old man just told me that schools are now being turned into camps. He said they calculate the monthly household income, and if it’s below average, they fly you over to the hospital to basically kill you off. They literally disintegrate you body to be used as fuel for the military’s phasers. I guess it was the only idea the government could think of to control the human population. I mean,The population has now reached 10.5 billion. Good thing I'm a dropout.

Though there are obvious signs, like the Dodo was back. Though, that was the not the worst of the Cloning Process. The dinosaurs were back and they weren’t any better than back then than they are now. Everything was going wrong and over the years, the animals were evolving. That wasn’t even the worst of the world’s problems. The Tyrannosaur was taking over world slowly by multiplying his army. But, the good thing is Jamen Woods and Professor Izaac Thombs are trying to stop them with our army. This is how it started.

Professor Thombs: I was in my house when the cloning started. I woke up to a loud thump outside, so I went outside to see what it was a t-rex. So I quickly ran back inside and hid so it hopefully wouldn’t smell me. Once it was gone I drove to the lab to ask what else they cloned. I, then met up with my partner, Jamen Woods . He said they have cloned all sorts of extinct animals from dodos to vicious, carnivorous dinosaurs. I freaked out and told them that they to try and erase the animals from existence (except the dodo). They said that there was no way to erase them and that they would have to stay. So we had to evacuate wherever the dinos couldn't go (luckily none of them could swim).

It started on a chilly October evening. The foggy mist that usually occupied downtown London shrouded the dark street. The dim streetlight barely penetrated the thick fog. As the steam-powered airships lazily floated above me, here I was, confined to the streets. My family had never been able to afford such a thing; they had been middle class my entire life, barely able to scrape together enough money to feed us and pay for the house. Only the elite of this cursed city could afford such a modern, technological marvel. It had been all over the news when the first couple airships were built. They could float above the city, without having to deal with traffic and such. It was much quicker than the horse drawn carriages that crowded the streets. Suddenly, a freezing cold blast of wind cut through my ragged jacket like a knife. It forced me back into reality. I knew if I stayed on the streets much longer, I would freeze. But of course, no one noticed me. No one ever did; I was just another beggar littering the pavement like garbage, thrown out and forgotten. You may wonder how this could happen, but in this world, it’s really no surprise. The wealth distribution was dominated by upper-class families. Mostly, the fathers in such families would work as carpenters or blacksmiths. The mothers would work as teachers or dressmakers. But I; I was restrained to working backbreaking hours at the mines. I mined out metals that were then used to make technology like brand new airships, gears and levers. However, the people who worked at the mine barely earned anything. Our boss paid us barely anything, and he always says he wishes he could pay us less. All the food I earned was put into food, and maybe if I was lucky, a room at the inn. My boss treated us like slaves, constantly beating us and demanding that we work harder. If I earned enough, perhaps I could have a full meal. But right now, I am forced to live on scraps that have been thrown away. I needed to stay warm. I decided to sleep in an alley, as it would provide me with some level of comfort. I trudged towards the alley, accidentally bumping into a man. He looked at me angrily and shoved me off. Nothing unusual. People always treat me like subhuman garbage. Whatever. I continued my walk towards the alley. Oil lamps lined the alleyway, showering it in a golden light. As I approached the alleyway, 3 men came walking towards me. Why me? I thought to myself. Normally, people treated the homeless like they were invisible. Why would people suddenly pay attention to us? I had nothing to lose, so I waited for them to approach. I saw a glint of steel in one of the man’s hands. Uh-oh. They approached me at a brisk walk. They all wore similar leather coats that hung down past their waist. Their faces were hidden by the hoods of their cloaks. They called for me to come closer. I kept backing away, until I hit a brick wall. Dead end. They slowly walked into the alley. Inching closer to me, I had nowhere to run. ”H-hello,” I managed to say. Suddenly, it was a 3 on 1. One of the men stepped up to me. He looked like their leader. He walked with a cocky strut, and talked confidently. “Come with me.” It wasn’t a request, it was an order. I could feel myself beginning to sweat. “Wh-why should I?” I stuttered. He paced around me like a predator, waiting to strike. I had read once that some animals could smell fear. This man seemed like one of them. He chuckled, but it had no humor. “You’re homeless. You earn next to nothing. What exactly do you have to lose from coming with me?” He had a point. “My life?” I asked. He chuckled lightly. “Look, son. We can do this the easy way, or we can do this the hard way.” He took a long step towards me. I tried to back up. I tried to escape, to get away from this man however I could. As he finished speaking, his 2 friends revealed their own weapons. They both had a crossbow, and several daggers concealed in their coats. A fit of rage combined with fear coursed through my body. Who did they think they were, shoving me around? His friends drew their daggers. I knew this was probably the end for me. I wasn’t going without a fight, though. “Over my dead body!” I said and spit at them. “As you wish.” The leader said with a sly smile. Before I could even react, one of the men stepped up and hit me in the side of the head with the handle of his dagger. As I fell unconscious, I saw the leader step over me. “He is a feisty one,” he said to himself. “He’ll do just fine.”

As I woke up, I noticed several things. First, the room I was in had no lights. None. As I quickly sat up, a bolt of pain shot through my head. It still hurt from being whacked with the dagger. “Good, you’re awake.” A voice in the darkness said. The voice sounded masculine, with a thick British accent. It must’ve been the leader. He lit an oil lamp in the corner of the room. As the light flickered and got brighter, I could finally see my surroundings. It looked like I was in a cellar or an attic, with wooden beams running along the ceiling. A layer of dust coated the floor. Of course, these rooms were common. They usually belonged to the wealthy, who purchased multistory homes. They had a weird mix of the wooden and stone architecture that was common, and the modern homes that had steam-powered entryways and electric lighting. “Why am I here?” I asked to the man. He stood up and started pacing. Always pacing. “You’re not in much of a position to be asking questions, are you?” He stopped and studied me. I felt like a specimen being observed. “Well,” he said. “You- you’re part of a grand experiment. For the last several months, of course, you have heard of these grand airships. My company, which produces these ships, has an excess. Of course, we wouldn’t want to waste them, as they are fine machines.” He said. I asked, “So what does this have to do with me?” He made large, exaggerated arm movements. “We are gearing these airships for war. And you,” he said with a smile. “Are a soldier.” Suddenly, the pieces came together. We were being prepared for war. The only reward was survival. It made sense, as before I lost my previous job I had studied in the engineering field. “Your job,” he continued. “Will be to man the guns and repair the ship.” I was horrified. It had been years since doing anything mechanical. “No! You can’t do this!” He smiled. “Oh yes, yes I can.” I struggled to get up. This couldn’t be happening to me! I felt sick and wobbly. As I sat up, restraints clamped around my hands and ankles. “You don’t have a choice.” He chuckled lightly. He grinned like a wolf, exposing his teeth. He was moving in for the kill. He knew he had won.

A day later, I woke up in a small wooden compartment. Where am I? I thought to myself. Suddenly, I slammed up and down. “What was that?” I said out loud. A voice to my left said, “Boy, that’s what we’ve been trying to figure out for five minutes.” The voice sounded old and grizzled. A different voice to my right said, “We’re certainly not in London anymore.” He had an English accent, no different from anyone else. He sounded like the average person. The door in front of me, or at least what I thought was the front, dropped. As I took a shaky step forward, I noticed a while line of these compartments. Apparently, I had to open the other people’s doors. I started tearing down the others’ wooden doors. Several of them looked tired and sore from being cramped in what was basically a closet. A certain awful smell waded through a small slit at the bottom of a certain door. As I opened it, a body came with it. I checked the body’s pulse, but there wasn’t one. He was dead. We all stared in silence at the body. Several people looked like they were going to be sick. He must have not recovered from his wounds. He had a gash in his head and his side. It looked as if it was from a serrated knife. I sighed. There was only so much you could do. As I took note of my surroundings, I noticed several things. First of all, I was on what looked like the deck of a ship. Second of all, we were hundreds of meters in the air. On the front and back of the ship (I have never been in one before, so I don’t know the technical terms) were what looked like mounted guns. On the sides were Gatling guns that could swivel. In the crow’s nest was a large cannon. The entire ship was ready for war. It had armored plating on the hull. As I descended down the wooden steps that led into the bottom layer, I smelled gunpowder. On both sides of it, there were several slits with cannons in them. There was another set of stairs. I slowly walked down it, not knowing what to expect. A loud hissing noise greeted me as I slowly opened the door. The room contained several large boilers. Pipes ran across the walls. This must be what powers the ship, I thought to myself. It looked very complex, although I knew some of how it worked. The boilers, obviously, made steam which powered almost everything. I trudged back up the stairs to the main deck. The crew greeted me with sullen faces. On the masts were large black boxes. Some of the crew members had gone to inspect the weapons. Suddenly, the black box crackled to life. A voice somehow spoke through it. The voice said, “3..2..1..BEGIN!” I abruptly realized what must happen. We had to take down the other ships that I knew were out there. I took my place at the helm. The crew had already taken their places. I counted 9 people in total, not including myself. 4 would stay up here, and the other 5 would divide between the second and third layer. I grimly said, “Let’s do this.” Already in the distance, I could see bright flashes which I knew must be shots. They must’ve begun right next to each other. I shuddered as I thought about what would happen if we got shot down. We would either burn, explode, or fall to death. There were no other options, really. I was leading my crew to their fate.

Alexander Gottfried September, 27, 3478It's been about 63 years since the invasion. More than 3/4 of the population of the Earth has died. The aliens have had a huge advantaged the entire time; an endless power supply of water. They are right by the nuclear warheads and missiles in North Korea. When the aliens first came they attacked Asia then Europe and Africa. Then they came to us The United States of America. Our scientist had created a prototype force field boundary that could withstand all the types of bombs ever created. It covered 1/3 of the United States (the east coast). My mission was to travel in a submarine to North Korea and from there launch all of the bombs at the teleporting aliens. I'm sorry that I haven't introduced myself, I am Alex Gottfried (Short for Alexander). My team and I were in a large submarine with a huge supply of torpedoes. The aliens might get their power from water but if the touch it it will dissolve whatever it touches on the alien. We were about 1,500 miles away and that would take about 2 minutes in the fastest submarine available. The Torpedo X-85 with a top speed of 3,000 Mph. We were approaching North Korea when an alien teleported onto the submarine and grabbed all of us. I felt a whoosh and the we were in the their headquarters; a control station where it controls all the missiles.
