1.     There are lots of very interesting things I have learned about the Spanish language. First off, I learned that it is not that hard to grasp. Learning Spanish has been a pretty easy process for me and I do not mind it at all. Also, Spanish has lots of words that are very similar to words in English. These are called cognates. Cognates make it very easy to understand many words. I would say the biggest differences between the two languages is that in Spanish you have masculine and feminine words. Also, conjugating verbs in Spanish is very hard to do. I would say as a whole that Spanish is much less choppy than the English language. It rolls off of the tongue much easier. I loved learning about the Costa Rican culture! My favorite part was learning about the food in Costa Rica. The food all looked so delicious. I also liked learning about the music and the dancing. This course opened up my eyes to a whole new world and I am very appreciative. 

2.     I hope to learn how to speak the language fully. Spanish is a beautiful language so I would really love to get to know and understand the language completely to the point where I could have a conversation with a native speaker and have it be easy. It becomes more important for me to learn Spanish as more and more people who speak Spanish come to the united states. It is such a good thing to be bilingual so I really would love to learn the language completely. I plan on doing this primarily by taking classes in college.

3.     I really did not enjoy the way this course was done. I liked the content a lot but online is very hard for me to understand. It made it really hard for me to really comprehend the course information when I couldn’t have a face to face conversation with the teacher. I did like how I was able to do the course on my own time and not on a fixed schedule though. The thing that I disliked the most was that I did not get face to face interaction with a teacher. That is so important for learning and I feel like I missed a huge chunk of the experience because of that.

4.     Some things that I did to help me learn Spanish was practice with flashcards, take notes and watch videos. The flash cards were the most important aspect of my learning because the vocabulary is the base of a language. The note taking on the videos was really helpful because new neural pathways are formed when you take notes on something. That helped me remember more. The videos were also helpful because I got to hear someone teach me the information. If I were to improve my learning in the future for a course like this I would make sure to spend more time learning. I did not spend a crazy amount of time learning this information so my brain is pretty spotty on its retention of the language.

5.     The things that my instructor did that helped me with learning was great communication and feedback. On every assignment that I turned in there were always very helpful notes and comments. These helped me do better in the future and they also boosted morale. The comments really made it possible for improvement. My teacher also communicated with me a lot over text message and canvas message. These messages, especially the texts, really encouraged me to catch up on my course work and helped me stay motivated. I cannot think of too any more things my teacher could do to improve.  Would say to make the announcements more engaging. That is the main thing I would recommend for my teacher to do.
