When I was a little girl, I tended to hang out with the boys in our neighborhood. I loved to climb trees, run around, get scuffed up and just have fun. However, at times my grandmother had other intentions of me being in a dress and sitting quietly like a nice girl. I admit I was very girly but just an adventurer that loved to be outside and play. I at times was not allowed to hang out with boys because I was told I needed to make friends with other little girls.

It wasn’t fair for me as I felt playing outside and hanging out was considered for boys only. I was meant to play with babydolls and learn to read and write and take interest in cooking. Why can’t I just been a child that loved to do both. I was a different breed, as time progressed over the years I got more into makeup, hanging out with my gal friends, talking about boys, going to the mall when that was the cool thing to do. I was always taught to not be a certain way, I needed to portray more of my feminine side. I always felt I had to be a certain way.
