Both of the photos below were taken in my backyard. I have had more time to look closely at the living things in and around my home during this quarantine. One of my favorite things to make observations of have been the butterflies I have seen in my backyard. One butterfly laid an egg on a nearby plant and I was able to watch it develop from egg to a caterpillar. I was excited to see it develop into a butterfly. However, as I waited, a large spider grabbed hold of the helpless caterpillar and pull it away. If you look closely, at the photo below, you can see that the spider looks as though it has a huge smiling face. In today's lesson, you will explore the huge variety of spiders that exist in our world. Whether you find spiders creepy or not, after this lesson we will all agree spiders can be fascinating.
