Some soldiers missed their family as in their wives, children, or even family pets. The text says, some soldiers brought their wives with them, and they volunteered them to cook, clean their camp, clean clothes, and care for the wounded or sick. The Difficulties would be, they can't see their family, and also, they can't be very tidy. Meaning, they can't bathe as well as they used to, they cant eat good food, or sometimes they have the struggle of thinking they might not be able to see their family again.
