I chose to create the stage from my final high school musical before I became a stage crew captain. During this show, I realized I wanted to incorporate art into my career, and this was right before I started applying to colleges. As shown in my posted reference photo, the proscenium is not a part of the stage, it was something I built with two other students. This was a very empowering time in my high school career and a very pivotal couple of months for my life.

I created a replica of the stage from one of the musical's my high school put on, and working on this show made me want to bring in art to my career. During the wire warm up, I knew right away I didn't want to work with the 18-gage wire because it was too difficult for me to bend in the small details I knew I would have to include, so I went with 24-gage for most of it. Through this caption and this piece, I want people to know that if there is something they are deeply interested in, they should gravitate towards it.

Still working on locating teeth - maybe I will scan them and print teeth. I saved my teeth after I had all four taken out in 2019. It seemed funny at the time but is quite adequate for the prompt along the lines of something that has value to me but is worthless.

The concept behind this piece was to contain something with no meaning to anyone else, but more than that to contain something that used to be a part of me and no longer is. I also wanted to play on the idea of being children and losing a tooth in school and getting a little chest to take home. This is a larger wooden chest, contrasting with the colorful plastic one students received. As well as immortalizing the teeth that were once in my mouth I wanted to immortalize the whimsical child like emotion.
