In this section the author talks about how the water led them to Stewart Resnick in the winter. He talks about how the Resnick turned public water into private water, and turned into an agricultural giant and grabbing control of California's largest water bank. Stewart was diagnosed with early prostate cancer and thought the pomegranate juice was keeping him well. Him and his wife, Lynda, were changing the way food was grown in California and sold to the world.

In the first paragraph it talks about how the Lost Hills sits on an upslope. It is said that the sales taxes don't go to the City Hall mainly because Lost Hills is not a city. When the wind kicks up dirt from the field of almonds and reap of oil the dust goes straight to the town landing on the elementary school first. When no one else has water because of the drought Mr. Resnick would have water because they would find a way to give him water.
