An economic reason for the French Revolution is that King Louis XVI made an extremely big spending when helping the Americans with their revolution, which left the county very close to being bankrupt. 
2. Also in France there was a very unsuccessful harvest which lead to the cost of bread to skyrocket, which made bread hard to get for the poor and peasants. 
3. King Louis XVI general Charles Alexandre de Calonne, presented a reform package that was financial which taxed universal land, making the privileged class people no longer exempt from taxes so they have to pay them as well. 
4. And the expensive lifestyles of the absolute monarchy had a huge economic reason, like when they remodeled the Palace of Versailles which would've cost over $2 billion US dollars in today's value. These large expenses by the French monarchy lead angered peasants/poor people to the outbreak of the French Revolution.

The grands blancs or white merchants and landowners often of royal decent and the peitis blancs or white overseers, craftsmen and those of similar background. The society was essentially dominated by white people. While the gens de couleur or the people of color as well as the slaves had vary little if any at all when it came to civil rights. This of course helps lead us to the reasons for the Haitian Revolution. First of all we have these lower class people the peitis blancs demanding to have political equality with the grands. While at the same time the gens de couleur and the slaves where pushing to have more civil rights. Though when it comes to the slaves their rebellion was motivated by revolts they were witnessing from the gens de couleur. The did indeed later start their rebellion by setting fire to whites plantations on August 22nd, 1791. But that’s a bit off topic the point is that due to the want of freedom and equal representation in society people choice to rebel.
