For many immigrants, America is a new opportunity however immigrants could be treated differently and discriminated against. Because of this they probably won't think people in America are really equal. Moreover, because of them being treated unequally they won't think highly of Americas values.

The excerpt from "The Immigrant Contribution" discusses the positive impact of Immigrants in the U.S. Kennedy mentions how the newcomers altered and changed America's history, allowing it to advance and develop, with their beneficial input and ideas. Kennedy begins by claiming there is no single group of immigrants to thank for their contributions. People all around the world played a part in different ways, with or without being recognized. Considering normal immigrants had the biggest impact on America's culture. Furthermore, he mentions that most American descendants of immigrants or have been immigrants. Hence there should be no distinctions between native-born people and naturalized citizens. He alludes to different figures and pinpoints their exact role in changing and helping America's history. In doing so, he provides readers with evidence of many people, who changed America despite not being from there originally. Kennedy repeatedly emphasizes the idea that America would not be the same without the help of immigrants, and could have never reached where it is today without their aid. Moreover, he states that the American dream is not only the opportunities available in America but also the faith of the Immigrants that success will come. Kennedy concludes by discussing the importance of equality between all of American citizens regardless of where they originated from.
