What is the American Dream?

The American Dream is to live freely and have a good stable life. I couldn't care if I'm rich and known, I'd rather just be living a good life with my family and friends. Having a good career and the dream job is the best dream because as long as I achieve my goals and they come true then that's all that matters. The freedom that I have is a bounce to it because with all this freedom my goals are easier to achieve since there is no restriction on them. My American Dream is easier to accomplish now than it was back then.

Poem: Mother to Son by Langston Hughes

These are some lines of this poem that I picked:
-Don't you fall now
-Life for me ain't been no crystal stair. It's had tacks in it, And splinters, And boards torn up,
-And sometimes goin' in the dark Where there ain't been no light.

To summarize this poem about how it talks about the American Dream it is basically saying don’t give up when the challenges get difficult. Life hasn’t been easy and probably won’t be easy since there are so many obstacles throughout it. There are always dark and tough times in life but anyone can get through it. Like we have heard before every dark tunnel has light in the end so nothing is impossible.

These are some lines of this song that I picked:
-I've got to make that change today
-If you wanna make the world a better place
-Take a look at yourself and then make a change

To summarize this song of how the American Dream is related it talks about if you want that change in your life or dream you have to start today because pushing it to the next day won't get you anywhere. Also if you want to make the world better you have to do your part of it and don't give up when things get tough. You have to know what you want and how you want it to make a change because once you know that then the change will be easier to make for the world.

It means to be working hard, having a good life, and freedom. She wanted to be the president of a good company and own it one day. Her dream is to be wealthy and live a good, healthy life. Also not have to worry about the little things. Her dad influenced her for this dream because they struggled when she was little. He never finished high school and went into the Army. No, she didn’t get my presidential job and she got sick so she couldn’t work anymore.
She agrees with you can achieve it but you can’t give up and you have to keep working hard to get there. Also you have freedom and so many opportunities here as well. Work hard in life and everything will work out, she did take it and it works. It's good advice. Keep on working hard and being yourself. You’ll succeed in whatever you do and don’t forget where you came from, always stay humble.

This video explains how these different people take in freedom. They explain how and what they feel freedom is to them. Wherever they are from they show it at the bottom while they explain their perspective of it. Hearing all these different responses still give me hope that the American Dream is still alive because they all hope for it too. The American Dream for these people, I agree with them because it is still here and it still comes around throughout the world. In all of our eyes this American Dream is still alive and well throughout the world.

Article: Is the American Dream Still Alive Today?

This article talks about how the dream is still alive because it says "whopping 1.4 million startups were founded between June and September 2020". Having these businesses starting up doing this time shows there is still hope that people have the dream alive. It has very friendly tax rates so if you own a business or work for a very professional high company the taxes are easy. It also says that "This is a country that values small enterprises, which is where the whole idea of an American dream came from" which means not all Americans believe in it but most of them do. Also there was a 37% of the population that says it isn't but the 63% does agree. This article shows me that it does and is still alive to most of us people.

At the end of the book in chapter 23/24 she goes to college and gets all her degrees as a graduate because of her dad. If it wasn't for her dad to push her for the better then she probably would still be at home. He says "Just because we're illegal doesn't mean we can't dream" which shows no matter what you come up with, whatever you do will be your choice to come up with in the end. When he told her that it stuck with her and she comprehended it very well. It shows that no matter where you come from if you put in the hard work and do your best you can achieve it. You can't give up you just have to keep going until you get to where you need to be. It says "I saw myself at the water's edge, holding tightly to my father's callused hand, And I let it go" by her saying that it meant she was able to say I made the American Dream my reality.
