The Olympics were ready to hand out  5000 medals to the winners. The important part was that these medals were made from recycled metal. E-waste such as old phones, laptops, tablets , and other personal devices were used to make the medals. The Olympics got the old devices by Japanese citizens who donated them. This is important to earth's science because it's protecting earth's natural resources.
