1- What surprised us the most was the way in which Shakespeare portrayed women in his pieces of literature. Women in Shakespeare's plays go against what they were expected to be/do at that time.

2-Students would get to know gender roles in past times and be aware of how times have changed for women. To work with CSE teachers could make the students discuss about the differences in societal expectations fornwomen and men in Shakespeare's time and nowadays.

MOLINA-MONTERO-NAUDIN-PEREYRA

1) The idea that surprise us the most is that Shakespeare was ahead of his time because the character of Rosalind was described as a strong and self- confident woman who courted Orlando by her own. Instead of being characterized as a “Inlaw woman”, she was portrayed as a darkness and sexuality character.

2) One advantage of using this story with secondary school is that we can teach the students a different role of the woman who achieves what she want. This story could be presented as a very good example of this complexity between the stereotypes of gender role that we have been taught. With “As you like it”, teachers can show how gender roles can be exchanged and teach the versatility of them. Being a woman or a man is not related with biology, its something that someone choses.

In our opinion the idea that Gordon presents -“His comedies are a riot of femenine supremacy, a feminist revel”- is eye-opening, highlighting the fact that Shakespeare’s plays feature strong female characters.

From our point of view, the advantanges are: being able to talk about personal problems, the importante of loyalty, values, independence, self-control, etc. On the other hand, the disadvantages are that it is complex and long for teenagers. That’s why we think we can use this story to work with the concepts of gender roles and gender constructs especially because of Rosalie’s decision to become a man and change her clothes and attitudes to be respected by society.

The main ideas by the author that surprised us the most were:

The female characters written and presented by Shakespear do not fit into the role impose by society. They are witted, intelligent, independent, and are capable of influencing the people around them

Shakespears also break the normativity of male and female, when Rosalind disguised herself as a man, adopting the role of a man, going as far as wooing the male protagonist

The story gives us topics and themes, such as gender roles, the patriarchy as every character end up following the command of a man, being the head of the family or the ruler of the place

For a Comprehensive Sexual Education class it would be interesting to talk about the gender roles imposed by society and the idea of marriage as a goal in life, something that society always demands im everyone.
