Absolutely. Many upper elementary students need to become automatic with addition and subtraction facts. The mini lesson is the launch. I would use mini-lessons to start the discussions about the big ideas and then I would follow up with the priority standard lessons in small groups. You don't teach everything in guided math groups though. There are a few big ideas in 2nd grade.  I would definitely have a workstation on money, time, and linear measurement.  I might keep money and time up in a "Hot Topics" station because these are life skills.
