They were seeking refuge anywhere they could but many of them were afraid to go back to their homes after the war as antisemitism was still very prevalent in the former nazi controlled countries. In some cases when Jews tried to return to their homes in Poland they were met with anger and even violence. With no place else to go the Jews were put into temporary refugee camps in England while the United Nations tried to find a place where the Jews could live and preferably set up their own country in or around Palestine. During the time of negotiations many ships with illegal Jewish immigrants were stoped from leaving England to try and make a home before anything oficial had been decided. Eventually after lengthy talks with the Arabs to try and reach an agreement the UN voted to turn Palestine into two states and give one to the Jews. This is something that the Palestinians rejected, but the UN needed somewhere that the Jews could live somewhat in peace. In 1948 the formation of the state of Israel was announced and the Jews finally had a palace to live. Jewish refugees from all around the world were welcomed in and many of them then fought to protect Israel in the war that followed shortly after its creation. This is related to the Jewish migration of 1945 because the Jews traveled to Israel in a immigration wave, mostly coming from England and going to Israel

The Jews changed their country of residence from whatever country they had been living in when they were in Europe to Israel

The jew wanted to migrate to Israel in order to get away from all the antisemitism and hate that they face in Europe

The Jews wanted to go to Israel not only for refuge after the war, but also because they believe that to be the holy land talked about in the Torah

   In the years since the Jewish migration to Israel in 1945 people born in Israel have moved all over the world 

2. The majority of migrants move a short distance 
     Immigrants who moved to Israel in 1945 stayed in Israel and did not travel any further from there 

3. Migrants who move long distances tend to chose big city destinations 
    When the Jews arrived in Israel it was already more urban than what they were used to in Europe, and over the years they have built it up into a country with many big cities 

4. Urban residents are less migratory than inhabitants of rural areas
    Many Jewish families have stayed in Israel, choosing not to leave unlike their ancestors who left rural environments in favor of an urban lifestyle 

5. Families are less likely to make international moves than young adults 
    Many of the first citizens of Israel who came over from Europe were young men without families
