         <description><![CDATA[<p>In this document, the Barons asserted that no new taxes or dues could be imposed by the king without their consent. The Barons also claimed to represent all the king's subjects. In this document, the king also promised that no one would be imprisoned or fined without first being tried by a jury of his peers in a court of law<strong>. </strong>The <em>Magna Carta </em>therefore established that under English law, free men had the right to own property, which could not be taken from them unless they were found guilty of a crime by a jury, which was the due process of law.</p>]]></description>
