Kelly Theunissen
Reflection- Through this webinar I have learnt that the teachers anxieties regarding teaching mathematics and how they have learnt in the past can affect student achievement levels.

Something I would like to implement more in my classroom is an environment that focuses on the mistakes made by students, allowing them to understand that the more mistakes we make the more success and understanding we have for future practice/ lessons. This will allow my class to be more centred around a learning environment and not a 'performance' environment, where students are only focused on answering questions if they believe they are already correct. Similar to how I was taught maths in my primary years.

It consolidated my understanding of collecting formative data in the classroom and gave me other methods to do so.

I wish I knew about these other methods of data collection before hand, but it is great for me to now trial these in my own classroom.

Danielle Tait

REFLECTION:
Something I am going to trial as a result of my learning is the use of 'Key Words' on my whiteboard during mini lessons, which was an idea from Rob Vingerhoets. This encourages students to use subject-specific vocab and also gives them the language to reflect upon what they have learned. It is also a behaviour management tool as you are able to hype up students who contribute valuable ideas, by putting their ideas in the key words section.
