As a preventative measure, governments are pursuing its constituents to stay at home at all cost and limit them from socializing especially in crowded areas. Majority of establishments are closing, from churches, business firms and even the school. As a response to this, people now find ways to somehow do essential things that they perform before Covid19 struck the world with the help of technology. People start using the technology for business transaction, attending important events and specially in education. And the shift of education from traditional to digital has a various effect on the ways of learning of the students but I will be focusing on my experience and expectation on the incoming class in the subject of English Enhancement Course.
My expectation on the online setting of educations varies, it can be disadvantage/advantage in comparison with face to face or normal setting of education. I am expecting that the teacher and I will have difficulties due to the availability of necessary things for online class. I do have the necessary things to make online class possible in exception of a good internet connection that would affect the communication and interaction between me and my teacher, this would be a great disadvantage because it does not only limit the performance of the student but it also limits the learning experience of the student specially in communication. I believe communication is a big part of what to be discussed in this subject which is sad. Also compared to face to face learning, we need to rely more on ourselves about learning, since it limits the capability of having a thorough discussion with the teacher and because of this, I am assuming that the teacher will give educational materials like power point and other documents with less interaction but still facilitated by the teacher and the grading system will be output-based. Because if the teachers will give exams and quizzes, there are a high tendency that the students will cheat since the students are at home and internet searching are on grasp. This online setting is beneficial also on the part of the students because it is less costly, we don’t need allowances for food, for renting house, for transportation, and etc... Also entering classes are more convenient because you don’t to go out and travel, what you only needed to do is open your gadgets and that’s all. What I expect for my teacher in this subject is to be more understanding and considering because in this situation, student has to adjust on the digital ways of learning.
