These people connected government and God as you can tell. What you believed in here determined what you would do and by do it means you can be accused of feeding demons and be killed or arrested. Many of our ideas now come from this whole event. The fact that we say "under God" in the pledge of allegiance is definite proof it still exists. These people were incredibly religious and started to blame every mishap that occurred to be the work of Satan or his worshippers. So comes a period in time were people started blaming what they call "witches" and some of these people blamed were killed. Basically if anything looks out of ordinary you were screwed and your destined to be a satanic worshipper. If they found these marks it was likely they are arresting you and eventually killing you. At some point people needed a way to escape that fate. So then came people blaming other people for making them the way they are. Is to feel something from God. In other terms if you confess your sins and feel God's touch or something then you have been "fixed". If you oppose most of their ideas your pretty much outcasted and to them your one step closer to being satan. They all are praying and sought to purify the Church of England. They had an ultimate goal to create a "utopia". A utopia is just a world where everyone and everything is perfect.
