The costume that he is seen wearing are very casual and dark shades. This is because it would represent the personality of him as dark shades are commonly regarded to portray gloominess, mystery, evil and death. This helps as it suits the conventional victim character. 

There was no make up used on him other than the slit that was on his forearm.

One of them is a teenager who is the victim and sufferer of schizophrenia. This is  a conventional way that teenagers are represented in thrillers - as people who suffer from a type mental illness due to a traumatic childhood.

Both characters are young black males.  Neither of them conform to the criminal/violent stereotype. The first is actually quite ambiguous because we can't tell much about his role from the three shots we see him in. 

The second male shown is very different from the stereotypes that is expected of black men. He is shown to be very weak and isolated. His body language and the way he is sitting backed away at the corner of the basement really shows how timid his character is. Whereas black men are usually represented as being bold, violent and harmful to others.

This represents the situation that he is in - depression and mental illnesses. 

The framing of each shot, especially the shots of the CCTV camera, are high angles. This indicates that he is weak and powerless. 

The clothes that he is wearing are very simple but dull clothes - grey and black. The colour grey represents being emotionless and moody, and is typically associated with depression or loss. Instead of this we decided that one of the young black male in the thriller would be the victim of harm, and the other one would be in a decent career and earning income which is not illegal.
