The setting starts out in the Castle Dracula of Transylvania, 1897

There is no real main character in Dracula because every other page we move on to someone else's journal. But for the sake of this assignment I will call Dr. Van Helsing the main character because he progresses the story the most and kills Dracula.

Climax

The Climax in this book is one of the best ever. After Van Helsing thinks he killed the Count once and for all he comes back again. But it was a long day for Van Helsing and his gang so Jonathan Harker slits his throat and Van Helsing stabs him with a knife. Dracula then turns to dust and is never to be seen again.

Of course how could you leave out the Count himself. He is rarely heard in the book but when he does you know it's something good. My favorite quote from him is "listen to them, children of the night, what music they make." He holds such power with his dialogue that it is actually scary for a book.

So I thought I would just mention this guy in here because he is one of the best characters in the book. His name is Renfield and he is Dracula's servant. This guy is a total wacko and does some crazy stuff.

Miscellaneous Characrers

There are several more characters than above so I thought I would list them.

Johnathan Harker: He is the first character to meet the Count and finds out his secret.

Mina Murray: She is the lead female character in this book. She does fall for the Count but does not become a vampire. She also helps Van Helsing and his crew to the Count's Castle with her smarts.

Lucy Westenra: Lucy is Mina's best friend and falls to the Count's spell and becomes a vampire herself. Van Helsing won't have this so he kills her and frees her soul to heaven.

Conflict

The conflict in this book is that Dracula is trying to turn everyone into his slaves by making them vampires. This fails in the end because all but one person becomes a vampire

The theme in this book is Good vs. Evil. The good in this book is all the Christian main characters and the evil is Count Dracula who is pretty much the devil incarnate
