2. Maths

This week

• This week, we began our next unit of working with numbers to 100.

• Students will learn how to add tens and ones with 2-digit numbers.

• They will count on and count back in ones, twos, fives or tens, starting from any number (from 0 to 100).

• Additionally, estimate, add and subtract whole numbers with up to two digits (no regrouping of ones or tens).

Next week

• Next week, we will be learning how to multiply.

• Understand multiplication as repeated addition. Additional practice recommended for counting in 2s, 4s, 5s, and 10s.

3. Science

This week

• This week, students completed a scientiftic investigation.

• They will be using the taught skills to twist, bend, stretch, squash different materials, identifying which forces are used.

• They also identify which forces change the shape, direction and speed of an object.

Next week

• Next week we will complete our Unit 2 Test - Forces. We will be revising throughout the week.

• Practice test is on LMS with additional materials.

4. GP

This week

• Students continued with Challenge 2 - Family Matters.

• Students will explored how their lives would be different if they lived in a different country and completed their Challenge 2 Project.

Next week

• Students will start with Challenge 3 - Helping Animals.

• Students will identify what animals need to survive.

- To encourage a love of reading, teacher will be sharing a link to a selection of early reader books every two weeks. These books are designed to help your child build their reading skills and confidence. Please encourage your child to read at least one book a day. Even short books can make a big difference. Reading together as a family can also be a fun and bonding experience.

McGraw Reading Lab can be a bit challenging for some students. These recommended books are a great alternative for students who are still developing their reading skills.
