Society taught The Sniper to kill with no feeling or mercy. The Sniper kills three people with no regret until the last one is his brother. Somebody sees the spark of his cigarette and shoots at him, he dodges the bullet. He sees an enemy car approaching and he realizes his bullet won't pierce the metal; he sees a lady approaching the car and talking to the driver while gesturing to the sniper's rooftop, an informer. He shoots her in the head and right after shoots the driver. The Sniper gets shot, drops the rifle and is no longer able to pick it up. He tricks the sniper on the other roof and then plans to shoot him. The Sniper was happy that he shot the other sniper and he could hear the cries of agony. He wondered if he knew the other sniper in the past. He freaks out easily and drinks and smokes to calm his nerves. He has a little addiction to smoking and can't hold back when he is in a stressful situation, in the Sniper when it gives the example of his addiction is because killing is not normal for him. When he finally kills the sniper on the other roof he feels a surge of victory and disgust for himself and when he finds out he shot his brother, you can only imagine his uncomfort

The Sniper was feeling conflicted but not enough to stop himself from killing 3 people. This is in a way similar to what is happening in Russia and Ukraine because Russia is telling everyone to not call it a war or an invasion, they call it a "special military operation", a way to attempt to brainwash the Russians.
